Basbousa; a traditional Middle Eastern sweet cake that originated in Egypt and is now popular in various countries ππ
It is easily made from a semolina batter and cooked in a pan, then sweetened with orange flower water, rose water or simple syrup as desired.
Ingredients –
1 cup + 1/3 semolina
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/3 butter
1/2 cup coconut powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp baking powder + vanilla essence
For the syrup –
1/2 cup sugar + water
1 lemon slice
