Green Bean Casserole Crustless Quiche – Ok that’s a mouthful for a dish name but I’m not quite sure id an official name exists for a baked custard so crustless quiche it is! Inspired by American Green Bean Casserole, I embedded in the custard sauteed mushrooms with thyme and blanched fresh haricot verts. In the final moments, I topped the dish with a layer of swiss cheese and some air fried onions. Pretty healthy brunch 😋
The onion topping was an attempt at healthified onion rings. I made them by soaking onions in a milk-cream mixture then tossing with seasoned flour before air frying. They had good caramelized onion flavour but suffered from uneven cooking! When I turned down the temp, I ended up with raw flour coating. What a conundrum – if you have any tips, leave a comment!!
