Tang Yuan – Keeping it simple for my challenge which is based on ‘Chinese New Year’. Made Tang Yuan (Glutinous Rice Ball) which signifies wholesome-ness and family cohesion in Chinese culture – an apt message for CNY! This dish also takes me back to my childhood as my grandma would make them on special occasions. Stuffed them with black sesame paste. Homemaking everything for this dish actually made it much more time consuming than… you know, thawing a pack of pre wrapped balls in sugared liquid. Especially at the wrapping stage where my skin kept tearing 😂. But i think it was worth it since it shows my effort at the reunion dinner table heh.
